Source: https://cumulocity.com/docs/2026/edge/using-edge/
Sector: Edge
Release: 2026
Description: Get started with Edge, apply your own branding, and develop web applications for Edge.

## Getting started

Read about the concepts behind the Cumulocity platform. Get familiar with the platform UI or directly get started by connecting your phone.

See [Getting started](https://cumulocity.com/docs/2026/sector/getting_started/).

## Branding

With the Branding feature, you can fully customize the look of your tenant to your own preferences. To access the Branding feature:

Log into the Management tenant using the management domain and administrator credentials created during the installation. For more information on logging in to the Management tenant, see [To access Edge](https://cumulocity.com/docs/2026/edge/installing-edge/#to-access-cumulocity-iot-edge)

Switch to the Administration application using the application switcher at the right of the top bar **<img class="Default" src="https://cumulocity.com/docs/2026/images/icons/switcher-icon.png" alt="Application switcher" style="display: inline; float: none">**.

Go to **Settings** > **Enterprise tenant** and follow the instructions detailed in [Branding](https://cumulocity.com/docs/2026/enterprise-tenant/customization/#branding).

## Developing Cumulocity web applications

If you develop a Cumulocity web application using the [Web SDK](https://cumulocity.com/docs/2026/web/introduction/), for Edge configured with a certificate not trusted by Node.js (for example, a self-signed certificate), then you must ensure that Node.js trusts the root certificate.

To add the Edge's self-signed certificate to the Node.js trust store, set the environment variable `NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS` to the path of the certificate before executing the `npm` commands.

**Example:**

On Windows Powershell:

```shell
$env:NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS=<path-to-the-certificate>\certificate.pem
```

On Windows command prompt:

```shell
set NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS=<path-to-the-certificate>\certificate.pem
```

On Linux platforms:

```shell
export NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS=<path-to-the-certificate>/certificate.pem
```
